QuarkXPress is a computer application for creating and editing complex page layouts in a WYSIWYG environment. It runs on Mac OS X and Windows. It was first released by Quark, Inc. in 1987 and is still owned and published by them. QuarkXPress is used by individual designers and large publishing houses to produce a variety of layouts, from single-page flyers to the multi-media projects required for magazines, newspapers, catalogs, and the like. 1. I used Quark 4.1 on 95/98 but it would not install on my XP, no floppy so I copied the Quark install directory from 98 to XP, created a shortcut and ran 4.1 just fine. On Vista, it work better than Vista (what didn’t). Now, I am doing the same on Windows 7 Home 64 but Ms buggered associations which were fine on XP and Vista. I expect all Quark .DLLs are self contained and portable. If you like Quark 4.0-4.1 and have made the considerable time to learn it, use it. A friend discovered 16, 32 and 64 bit versions of MS .DLLs buried in Windows so I suggest experimentation.
