How To Make Your Technology Into A Personalised Fashion Statement

HTCIn this article, I have listed some tips to make your smartphone look more attractive and fashionable.

A mobile phone is an incredibly personal item. Not only is it something that you carry with you at all times, but it’s also your gateway to the interne, the tool you use to communicate with friends, a note taking and organisational aid and a camera. If this isn’t something that should reflect who you are, then I don’t know what is.

Unfortunately though, style and design options are somewhat limited when it comes to smartphones. Of course there are a number of different smartphones on the market and the one you choose is going to immediately say a lot about you. Are you an iPhone person, or an Android person? Do you prefer the speakers of the HTC? Or the large screen and high specs of the Note 3?

Each of these devices also looks different in terms of its build quality and style. The iPhone has a very specific design in particular and is a fashion statement all of its own. But the problem is that all iPhones look the same, as do all HTC Ones and all Sony Xperia Zs. Once you choose your phone, you’re going to have to go with a particular design and that’s going to be the same as everyone else who owns that device. Sure, there are normally different colours available for most phone models, but that’s hardly going to be a game changer.

So what if you want to really make your device into a fashion statement and an expression of who you are? You carry it with you everywhere, so how can you make it as personal, as attractive and as much of a statement as a nice watch or a piece of jewellery? Here are some suggestions…

EngravingOne of the nice things about a watch or a piece of jewellery is normally that they carry some kind of sentimental value: often they will have been given to you by someone, and as such you will come to associate them with that person. Additionally, they will usually tend to last a long time meaning that they will gather new memories as time goes on.

How do you give your phone that same kind of personal touch? Well one option is to get it professionally engraved: something that’s especially effective if your device is made from a high quality material such as the brushed aluminium of Apple’s products.

Mobile Phone CasesCases are a great way to make your phone look a little different while at the same time protecting them from damage and deterioration. The best cases will provide your device with extra functionality (by providing a stand/card holder etc.) while at the same time making it look more premium and beautiful. Leather pouches for popular phone models aren’t that hard to come by and will always add an incredibly premium and studious look. Brands like Mulberry even do cases for iPhones meaning you can give yours a designer edge.

If you can’t find the perfect case for your device though, then why not make your own? Using 3D printing this is now relatively easy to do and that way you will only be limited by your imagination. Whether you want your device to have a robotic head on the back, or whether you want to get diamonds put in, it’s entirely up to you.

DecalsWhether you attach them directly to your device, or to the case that you have purchased for your device, decals can allow you to add even more colour and flourish to your mobile. These are essentially stickers that you can place anywhere on your phone, allowing you to choose any image you like the look of and then ‘dress’ your phone in it.

Mobile CustomisationAlso important to finish off the look, is to customise the software on your phone so that it matches the look of your accessories and physical changes. Android phones are the best for this, allowing you to swap the entire ‘launcher’ that you use to run your apps from, but any device will allow you to choose an attractive background and alter some of the colours. Why not pick a wallpaper that will match your decals?
